I decided to make my shirt out of the shirt I got on the opening night of the movie “Whip It” that was too big for me and thus allowed to wear it in style for one night of inspiration, that is. It’s a shame because I like the text on the front. All I need to change this t-shirt is the cut.

Today I will show you how to adjust your workout shirt with vinyl. It is the perfect vinyl for nylon and polyester. Cricut has announced a new product called the SportFlex Iron On™. It uses Cricut StrongBond™ technology to ensure consistent results.

Today I set time for myself. Start my week by going to warm up yoga on Monday night. I find it helps me sleep and relieve stress on Mondays. I thought the yoga shirt would be perfect to try the SportFlex Iron On™.

Now I want a smart t-shirt and not a training shirt. Because we do warm yoga, you can throw your hair in a high bun and it will be damaged by heat and exercise. What is a more appropriate statement then “Yoga does not take care of hair.” You can get the cricut file here.

One of my favorite features about the Cricut is the templates. Whenever I design a t-shirt, I like to choose a t-shirt template that allows me to scale my design and see if it fits on a digital t-shirt. So how do you make a t-shirt design in Cricut?

In the Cricut design area click on Templates on the left. Scroll down and choose the type of shirt you have. Once loaded into your design area select the shirt style and shirt size and you are ready to start designing.

Make Yourself A Workout Shirt

Now we are ready to press our shirt die in the upper right corner. On the other hand, the most important thing to remember is to press the glass. You need to model the design to fit your shirt.

You are ready to cut! So put SportFlex Iron On ™ on the mat. You want to put the iron on or the hdtv with the film side down. For the double seal, I always peel off the corner. Set your Cricut iron on the dial and load your mat and watch your machine cut.

The reason I prefer iron or HTV over regular vinyl is that it is easier to weed. What is weeding? That’s when you bring a large vinyl that was not part of your plan.

Now you are ready to put your design on your shirt. Before I do this, I iron my shirt first. Since I’m using my EasyPress 3 I’m following Cricut’s helpful instructions on their website here. I preheat my shirt for 15 seconds at 305 degrees.

I like to use v neck because it is easy to coordinate your design with v neck. Using the rules I find a forum for my photos.

With my easy press set to 305 degrees, I press the pattern for 30 seconds. I keep doing this until I click on a part of my plan. Then you do the same on the basis of your plan for 15 seconds. Wait for your clear film to cool a bit and then peel it off.

I am very impressed with the SportFlex Iron On™ that hangs on fabric and is the strongest vinyl I have ever used on a shirt. I hope it doesn’t come off so quickly in the wash.

A few important notes before cutting (because hey, I learned from a lot of experience doing it!):

Cut out the sleeves and hem (the hem is optional, I like the eyelet look on most of my shirts).

Try on a shirt to see if you need more trim. You can cut the sides as you want, the lines as you want, and the height as you want. It’s your plan, and the options are endless!

This step is completely optional! If you want to turn your new tank into a racing tank, turn your shirt over and the back is facing up.

Cut one side of it into a racerback shape (be very careful you only cut on the back of the box – I accidentally cut the front!).

Take the piece of fabric you cut from the back, and flip it over to the uncut side. Cut along one side of the back of the box, following the fabric section.

Once you get the hang of this, you can get creative and cut out the cutouts on the back of the box, or cut the middle of the back out of the box!
