How To Set Up Workout On Garmin Connect
It’s important to know that these features vary depending on the make and model of your watch. But most Garmin smartwatches will have access to at least some of these different workouts in the Garmin Connect app.
Sharing Your Training Plan From Garmin Connect
In this article, we’ll show you how to create a custom workout, use some of the presets, and use some of Garmin’s other great workout features.
If you’re the type of person who doesn’t want to think about planning a workout, Garmin Connect’s preset workouts are for you!
You can watch these animated workout videos for Yoga, Pilates, Cardio, and Strength activity workouts on Garmin Connect using the Garmin Connect mobile app or website. Many Garmin smartwatches, such as the Venu, Vívoactive 4+, and the popular Fenix series (6 and up), allow you to track on the watch screen.
These premium watches also allow you to download workouts directly to the watch for easy access. You first download these workouts from Garmin Connect and then you can follow the video animations on your watch.

These pre-made workouts in the Garmin Connect app are also very diverse. You can choose anything from the difficulty level to the duration of the exercise and even which muscle groups you want to work.
One thing to note, you will only see these workout animation videos when you select ready-made workouts from Garmin connect; they will not work if you modify an existing workout or create your own.
You can easily navigate between exercises by selecting Next. Press Stop when you are done with your workouts.
All Garmin Connect users can access these animations from the app on their phone. However, depending on the model, you can also access these animations directly from your watch.

Check them out and train with them right from your watch screen! You can only see these animations for strength, yoga, cardio or pilates activities.
These steps may vary depending on your model. To view animated workouts on your Garmin, check your user guide for the exact steps.
One thing to keep in mind is that you are limited to 25 workouts downloaded to your device at one time.
First, you need to enable workout animations in your activity settings for this feature to work. See your device’s user manual for instructions on how to do this.

If you turn on training animations and still can’t see them, try updating your watch’s firmware using Garmin Express (on your computer) instead of updating via Garmin Connect or OTA.
It’s also a huge plus that Garmin gives you this feature, so you always have the freedom to create a workout based on your personal goals.
Note that custom workouts you create do not receive the corresponding animations; you will only see them in previously done workouts.
Garmin offers several different exercise plans to help you reach your fitness goals and prepare for a specific activity. To choose an actual training plan, you need to go to the web browser version.
Garmin Connect — Inflated Training Load Stat
These predefined plans have been developed and tested by experts to ensure that you are properly trained for the event you are planning.
For example, whether you’re training for a 5K race or a marathon, you can choose a race training plan. Most programs range from 12 to 16 weeks of guided preparation.
There are also more adaptive plans known as Garmin Coach plans that guide you through a structured program more specific to your goals.
Once you’ve decided whether you’re training for a 10K or a century of cycling, you can add this training plan to your Garmin Connect calendar to see your daily workouts for the selected period.

For now, you can change the start or end date of your workout plan, or replace the actual workout scheduled for that day with something else.
For example, this can be useful if you are short on time and need to replace the day’s long workout with a shorter workout.
So far, you can’t seem to create an entire custom training plan that spans several weeks, like the ones previously done in Connect.
Some users noted that if you want to do this, you’ll need to manually create a daily custom workout in Connect and send it to your watch each day.
Trainingpeaks New Structured Workout Integration With Garmin Wearables
It’s a tedious workaround, but it’s an option if you’re determined to track your fitness stats and use a training plan that isn’t yet compatible with the Garmin Connect app.
You can choose from a wide variety of pre-made daily exercises. Or you can create your own custom workout of the day.
If you want to prepare for a running or cycling event, Garmin also offers comprehensive training plans that cover several weeks.
