You see, when it comes to your abs, there are three main areas and priorities to focus on: nutrition, cardio, and abs.

First, let’s talk about nutrition. First of all, you need to understand that abs are made in the kitchen. If you run 3 miles and come home to eat 6 donuts, it’s going to be hard to get a six pack. Before you do anything else, you need to make sure your diet is under control. For me, this includes cutting out alcohol and fizzy drinks, limiting saturated and trans fats, and focusing on complex carbohydrates instead of simple ones. I also have a lot of bloating from sensitivity since going gluten free. You also want to create a caloric deficit to lose total body fat, allowing your abs to become more visible on the surface.

Another thing to pay attention to if you want to have a flat stomach is your cardio… or lack thereof. Cardio plays an important role in losing excess fat and reducing total body fat, allowing you to get the six pack abs you’ve been dreaming of all your life! However, most of us do not exercise, sweat less or get our heart rate up in a day than is recommended.

The American Heart Association recommends that the average adult should get at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity or 75 minutes of vigorous-intensity aerobic activity per week.

When it comes to cardio, not all cardio is created equal. Maybe you spend an hour on the treadmill like most people and see no change because you’re not pushing hard enough, or you’re spending time on “smart cardio” options like HIIT or high-intensity interval training. this effectively. . I love doing HIIT because you can burn twice the calories and double the fat in half the time or less. My personal form of HIIT cardio is usually intervals where I run for 30 seconds and then walk for 30 seconds at a normal pace, alternating between the two for 10 minutes. Other forms of HIIT can be burpees, rock climbers, jumping rope – anything that gets you working up a sweat!

Finally, the third component of getting abs or a flat stomach is abdominal exercises. In my personal opinion, these are the most important of the three since I only do abs once a week, but it’s helpful.
